Software Engineer FS III - Rails/React (Remote)

Ad Hoc LLC is a technology company that empowers organizations to deliver scalable, impactful digital services. They are seeking a Software Engineer III - Full Stack to contribute as an individual within a team, focusing on meeting project goals and improving engineering processes. The role involves coding, mentoring junior developers, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance user experiences for Veterans and their families.

Responsibilities:

• Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with a little feedback and guidance from their team
• Practices technical and communications skills to improve context knowledge and mentor junior developers
• Assesses and diagnoses issues with the systems they own, prioritizing problem areas based on alignment with other practice areas
• Participates in on-call rotations with their team as necessary
• Presents on and writes about their work to both internal and external parties
• Participates in planning sessions, building an understanding of major architectures and design patterns
• Supports recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviews
• Exhibits influential skills to drive improvements in team engineering processes and practices
• Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the business, how practices interact, and what customer problems we're solving

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of engineering experience
• Expert experience with Ruby on Rails, API Design & Development
• Experience with React/Redux, JavaScript, HTML & CSS
• Experience with Postman, Datadog and RSpec
• Experience responding and triaging production issues
• Prior government contracting experience
• Experience with VA Systems
