Virtual Intros AI is building an AI-powered platform for meaningful connections. They are seeking a technically fluent Product Manager to own product complexity end to end, influencing product architecture and ensuring timely delivery of features.
Responsibilities:
- Decide what gets built and in what order, balancing member value, technical effort, and business impact
- Defend prioritization calls with data and reasoning, not opinion
- Anticipate the technical and operational needs that come with growth — scale, reliability, data integrity, integration load — and get ahead of them before they become fires
- Reason about the platform as a system: the matching/recommendation pipeline, the data model and event schema feeding it, API and SDK contracts, the embeddable UI partners integrate, and the privacy/consent architecture that gates what data is ever exposed
- Weigh build-vs-buy, latency-vs-cost, and accuracy-vs-coverage trade-offs intelligently
- Product-manage probabilistic, data-dependent features with a clear view of how they behave
- Translate high-level business goals and early-stage ideas into precise technical specifications — data contracts, API behavior, edge cases, error states, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements (latency, scale, privacy, observability)
- Write specifications clean enough that work just moves
- Own releases end to end: scoping, sequencing, dependencies, feature flags, cutting scope when necessary, and shipping
- Define instrumentation and success metrics up front, then read the telemetry and close the loop on what actually happened
- Define the events, funnels, and metrics that show whether a feature worked
- Interrogate the data directly — querying, segmenting, and running or interpreting A/B tests rather than waiting for a dashboard
- Decide what to keep, kill, or iterate based on evidence, not anecdote
- Own the day-to-day with external development partners — running technical cadences with structured agendas and clear outputs
- Review architecture and deliverables critically, including reading PRs and design docs
- Catch scope and quality drift early, and hold partners to scope, timeline, and engineering standards
- When something is off, flag it in writing and drive it to resolution
Requirements:
- Proven product management experience shipping technical products in a fast-growing or startup environment
- Strong technical fluency — comfortable with system design discussions, APIs, data models, and reading code/PRs; able to work directly with engineers and external dev teams with no translator required
- Working understanding of recommendation, matching, search, or other ML-driven systems, and how to product-manage probabilistic, data-dependent features
- Data fluency: comfortable with SQL, analytics and event instrumentation, and designing and interpreting experiments
- A track record managing technical vendors or agencies against scope, timeline, and quality — and getting results
- A history of shipping: prioritizing, scoping, and delivering features on schedule
- Sharp written and verbal communication; able to align stakeholders and document technical decisions clearly
- Fluency with Jira-based delivery workflows and modern AI/productivity tooling
- Experience with privacy-preserving or consent-based systems
- Experience with real-time, geospatial, or proximity features
- Experience with SDKs, embeddable components, or platform APIs
- Mobile product experience
- A track record of standing up product processes from scratch
