SOCOTEC is a provider of niche consulting services within the architecture, engineering and construction industries. They are currently seeking a Senior Engineer with more than 5 years’ experience in laboratory testing to conduct materials and mechanical testing, field monitoring, and non-destructive evaluations of structures.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating, planning, and conducting standard and custom mechanical and material testing in the laboratory, including tensile, Charpy V-notch, leak/pressure, long-term durability testing, and others
- Leading and completing field testing and monitoring including installation of sensors, deploying data acquisition systems, data collection and analysis
- Preparation of written reports of tests including analysis of data and interpretation of results
- Conducting field and site inspections
- Managing projects, pursuing new business opportunities, and communicating effectively with colleagues, technical and administrative staff, clients and other stakeholders
- Completing all duties as assigned by their manager
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Materials or other relevant fields of engineering, with familiarity/expertise in mechanical and material testing, instrumentation and data analysis. A masters' degree is required at the minimum, although exceptional candidates with bachelors' degree and relevant work experience will be considered
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Specialized engineering knowledge and experience in mechanical and structural failures, sensor systems and setups, and materials characterization techniques is desired
- Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain professional licensure is desired
