About this role
WellSky Corporation is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support data-driven decision-making processes. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance data quality, accessibility, and security.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and maintain the data architecture, data models, and standards for various data integration and data warehousing in enterprise data warehouse
- Research, develop, and maintain data solutions to enable new or existing solutions and BI development for the enterprise driven data warehouse and data visualization solutions
- Maintain current data infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability across all data workflows
- Influence code reviews through WellSky solution subject matter expertise
- Develop and train teammates for data security, architecture, and governance requirements while maintaining data quality standards through automation
- Adhere to WellSky core values, ensure PHI data security, and adapt to changing BI technologies
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 8-12 years of relevant work experience
- Hands-on experience managing replication tools (HVR/Fivetran, DataStream, or similar CDC tools) to replicate data from source systems into BigQuery in real-time or near-real-time
- Experience with event-based data capture and streaming using Apache Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or similar messaging platforms
- Strong experience with star schema design, dimensional modeling, and modern data platform patterns for analytics-ready solutions
- Experience with Dataflow, Airflow, dbt, Dataform, or equivalent tools for high-volume pipeline orchestration
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Terraform for automated, scalable data engineering
- Working knowledge of AI-based development tools and workflows (e.g., AI-assisted coding, LLM integration, prompt engineering for data workflows)
- Working knowledge of reporting and dashboarding tools (Tableau, Looker, Sisense) with experience embedding analytics into multi-tenant client application systems
- Healthcare industry experience
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS application architectures
