The Staff Software Engineer (Virtualization/VMware) will lead the design and optimization of virtualized infrastructure using VMware technologies, collaborating with teams to support mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of virtualized infrastructure and platforms using VMware technologies
- Architect and implement scalable, secure virtual environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and related components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design back-end services and integrations, troubleshoot complex performance and stability issues, and automate deployment and configuration tasks
- Write high-quality, maintainable code
- Conduct code reviews
- Implement best practices for virtualization
- Monitor system performance
- Create clear technical documentation
- Mentor team members
- Contribute to solution strategy
- Ensure compliance with client security and operational standards
Requirements:
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and systems fundamentals
- Hands-on expertise in Software Development and Back-End Web Development, with experience building scalable services and APIs
- Proficiency in Programming with at least one modern language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go) used in production environments
- Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns applied to complex systems
- Extensive experience with VMware virtualization (e.g., ESXi, vCenter, vSphere), including design, deployment, and optimization
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management (e.g., Ansible, PowerCLI, Terraform) in virtualized environments
- Knowledge of networking and storage concepts as they apply to virtualized and cloud environments
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor other engineers, and collaborate effectively in distributed teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience operating in secure, compliance-driven environments (e.g., government or regulated industries) is highly beneficial
