Mercy Ships is a global faith-based charity that uses hospital ships to bring life-changing surgeries and transformational medical training to people in some of the most challenging contexts. They are seeking multiple Senior Project Managers to lead various organizational initiatives, ensuring successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive project plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements
- Oversee the execution of project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards
- Utilize standardized project management processes and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion
- Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement project solutions
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination among project stakeholders, ensuring a unified approach towards project goals
- Promote adherence to standardized processes and documentation
- Engage with key stakeholders to gather detailed requirements and understand business needs
- Translate stakeholder requirements into effective project solutions
- Lead comprehensive requirements-gathering efforts, ensuring all stakeholder expectations are captured and integrated into the project scope
- Develop and implement robust change management strategies to support organizational transitions
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns, and proactively address resistance to change
- Ensure adequate training and support mechanisms are in place to facilitate user adoption and minimize disruptions
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, user guides, and change management plans
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to ensure understanding and adoption of new processes and tools
- Promote the use of standardized processes and documentation across all project activities

- Experience interacting with all levels of the organization including Executive Leadership and Senior Management, which may include educating, influencing, and negotiating
- Must be able to work effectively in a matrix environment, particularly influencing without final decision authority and leading while not owning desired outcomes
- Be process oriented, have an attention to detail and a strong analytical problem-solving ability
- Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities
- An ability to adjust quickly in response to re-organization, strategy or priority changes and shifting customer needs
- An ability to use servant leadership, strong resource management and inter-personal skills to attract, motivate and develop an effective, creative, and collegial team
- Ability to evaluate projects and programs to assess strengths and identify areas for improvement
- Produce accurate and timely reporting of project status throughout its lifecycle
- Ability to travel internationally, including extended onsite engagements as required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project management
- Proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams and managing change in complex projects
- Minimum 7 years of leadership experience leading complex, global, and diverse teams
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is preferred
- Experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies is a plus
