They are seeking a Senior Drupal Developer to support a growing portfolio of federal and state digital services, combining technical expertise in Drupal development with the ability to architect scalable solutions and mentor team members.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Drupal architecture decisions across client engagements, including content modeling, configuration management, dependency injection, and reusable patterns that support maintainable, scalable implementations
- Build and maintain custom Drupal modules, themes, and integrations using modern Drupal practices, including Composer-based workflows, service architecture, and upgrade-ready code for Drupal 9, 10, and 11
- Integrate Drupal with third-party systems, RESTful APIs, authentication services, and enterprise platforms to deliver secure, cohesive digital experiences
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that align with client goals and delivery priorities
- Define and implement automated testing strategies, including unit, kernel, functional, and end-to-end testing, to improve code quality, reliability, and release confidence
- Own release readiness and deployment workflows across development, staging, and production environments, including CI/CD pipelines, configuration deployment, and environment troubleshooting
- Optimize application performance, accessibility, and scalability for high-traffic government websites through caching strategies, query tuning, asset optimization, and compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 and Section 508 standards
- Apply secure development practices across Drupal applications, including dependency management, vulnerability remediation, authentication and authorization patterns, and PII-aware implementation
- Provide technical leadership by estimating effort, guiding implementation decisions, conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, and establishing engineering standards that can adapt to diverse client environments
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience developing and maintaining Drupal applications, including Drupal 9, 10, and/or 11
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
- Demonstrated experience building custom Drupal modules, themes, and integrations using PHP, Twig, JavaScript, and modern web development frameworks
- Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating Drupal with third-party systems, SaaS platforms, and enterprise applications
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives, architecting solutions, and making technology recommendations for complex web projects
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams and collaborating closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with cloud-hosted environments, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
- Deep understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508), security best practices, and performance optimization techniques
- Experience mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and contributing to engineering best practices and technical standards
- Experience delivering solutions for federal, state, or local government clients
- Active contribution to the Drupal open-source community through module development, issue contributions, or community leadership
- Experience working in FedRAMP, cloud.gov, AWS GovCloud, or other regulated environments
- Acquia Certified Drupal Developer, AWS or other cloud platform certifications, Security+, accessibility certifications (such as IAAP CPACC), or equivalent professional credentials demonstrating expertise in web development, cloud technologies, accessibility, and secure software delivery
