Role: SAP Basis Unicode Conversion SME

Location: Grand Rapids, MI or fully remote

Duration of Contract: 3+ months

Client is seeking an experienced SAP Basis/Unicode Conversion Subject Matter Expert to provide strategic advisory support for an upcoming ECC Unicode conversion project.

About the Project:
Client is currently running SAP ECC Enhancement Pack 7, Service Pack 22 and is undertaking a Unicode conversion as a standalone project. The production database is approximately 22 terabytes and runs on Oracle Exadata hardware. A sandbox environment is already in place and pre-conversion work is underway with a target go-live of mid-September 2026.

What You'll Do

• Provide strategic guidance and advisory support throughout the Unicode conversion project
• Help navigate current SAP Notes, documentation, and best practices as they apply in 2026
• Identify pre-conversion activities, risks, and pitfalls based on prior experience
• Advise on tuning and efficiency strategies for a large-scale database conversion
• Validate and provide input on the current project timeline and approach
• Collaborate with Client internal basis and database teams throughout execution

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience with SAP ECC Unicode conversions experience from 10-15 years ago is acceptable given the nature of this skill set
• Strong SAP Basis background
• General database experience a plus, particularly with Oracle
• Ability to work independently and translate experience into practical guidance
• Remote work is acceptable with occasional on-site visits preferred

Engagement Details

• Not expected to be a full-time engagement
• Remote with flexibility for occasional on-site visits to Grand Rapids, MI
• International candidates welcome
