Pay Rate: $70k - $75k per year
Schedule: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
The Shop Supervisor supports day‑to‑day maintenance operations for a fleet of tractor‑trailers, trucks, transportation equipment, and material handling equipment (MHE). They provide hands‑on oversight within the maintenance shop, ensuring assets remain safe, reliable, and ready to support transportation and warehouse activities. They lead a small team of mechanics and shop personnel, assigning daily work, assisting with diagnostics, and ensuring maintenance tasks are completed accurately and on time. They focus on executing preventive maintenance plans, coordinating repairs, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate maintenance services for a fleet of tractor‑trailers, trucks, transportation equipment, and related mechanical components.
- Support the upkeep and repair of forklifts and other MHE used in warehouse and logistics operations.
- Provide daily supervision and direction to mechanics, technicians, and shop support staff.
- Assign and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and trailer‑related issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the CMMS/asset management system.
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; support basic procurement activities as needed.
- Uphold DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards, ensuring proper documentation and shop audit readiness.
- Monitor equipment conditions and escalate significant repair needs or trends to maintenance leadership.
- Communicate regularly with transportation and warehouse teams to support asset availability and operational demands.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to maintenance processes, workflow, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- All other duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or technical coursework preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment) required; Relevant certifications such as ASE or OSHA preferred.
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in fleet, MHE, diesel, or related maintenance environments.
- Prior experience as a lead technician or in a role providing direction to maintenance personnel preferred.
- Working knowledge of diesel systems, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, brakes, and trailer repair.
- Experience using CMMS or asset management software for work orders and equipment history.
- Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and safety requirements in transportation or warehouse environments.
- Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling and protecting sensitive information.
- Technical: Proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.).
- Environment: Comfort commuting to/from and working in a 100% on‑site setting (listed in this posting), with travel for related meetings/events.
