
The Certified Nursing Attendant (CNA) provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Delivers safe, efficient, and patient-centered care while ensuring exceptional customer service and responsiveness to patient needs. Contributes to positive patient outcomes and satisfaction (HCAHPS) through compassionate, professional interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greets patients and families in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner, promoting a positive patient experience
• Provides compassionate, patient-centered care by anticipating needs and ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility
• Performs and documents vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical data as assigned
• Practices hourly rounding using the “4 Ps” (Pain, Position, Personal Needs, Placement) to enhance patient satisfaction
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Responds promptly to call lights and patient requests, demonstrating responsiveness and accountability
• Maintains patient privacy, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions
• Supports admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring continuity of care
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment
• Utilizes de-escalation techniques and reports concerns or changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly
Team Collaboration:
• Works closely with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to support care plans
• Reports changes in patient condition or concerns promptly
• Participates in shift handoffs and unit communication processes
• Supports a team-oriented, respectful, and patient-centered environment
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
