Assistant Professor of Physics, Middlebury College, MIDDLEBURY, VT -- The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in experimental physics, beginning Fall 2027. We seek an intellectually vigorous individual who is committed to excellence in both teaching and research, and who will contribute to Middlebury’s college-wide liberal arts mission. Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching at all levels and potential to develop a strong research program involving undergraduate participation. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph. D. in experimental physics or a closely related field, with post-doctoral experience strongly preferred. The field of specialization within experimental physics is open, but candidates who will provide on-campus research opportunities for students are particularly encouraged to apply.
As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also regularly contribute to Middlebury’s First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
