Duration: 3+ Month Contract-to-Hire Overview: We are seeking an experienced
API Standards & Compliance Lead to drive enterprise API governance, standards, and lifecycle management. This role focuses on defining policies, ensuring security and regulatory compliance, and advancing an API-first strategy across the organization.
Key Responsibilities: - Define and enforce enterprise API governance standards (REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL)
- Establish best practices for API design, versioning, documentation, and lifecycle management
- Lead API governance board and ensure alignment with architecture and compliance requirements
- Oversee API onboarding, publishing, and management using Apigee X
- Implement API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS) and ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and DevEx teams to improve API quality and developer experience
- Track governance KPIs, drive adoption, and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Enable policy-as-code and automate compliance through CI/CD pipelines
Required Qualifications: - 10+ years of IT experience, including API development/governance
- 5+ years in API governance or platform leadership
- Strong knowledge of API standards, lifecycle management, and security frameworks
- Experience with Apigee X or similar API platforms
- Proven ability to define policies, lead governance forums, and drive cross-team alignment
Preferred: - Google Cloud Platform / Apigee certifications
- Experience with Ping Identity and enterprise IAM
- Exposure to DevSecOps, CI/CD, and API portal improvements
