As a Mechanical/Product Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the specification, design, prototyping, and deployment of cutting-edge hardware systems. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in developing and designing high-reliability and precision mechanisms while considering a broad range of business and hardware requirements, including materials, manufacturability, form factor, and integration of technologies with elastomers and soft goods. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a history of building robotic mechanisms.
Responsibilities
Work across the full product development cycle to deliver mechanical component/subsystem designs from concept to production
* Design mechanisms with tendons, pneumatic, and/or motor control
* Manage suppliers for prototypes and production of parts
* Able to manage the schedule of your parts in concert with the full program's schedule
* Partner effectively with a cross-functional team of engineers and researchers
* Work daily with electrical, firmware, and controls engineers on motor integration, sensor packaging, and mechanism bring-up
Qualifications
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics or equivalent experience
* 2+ years of experience in developing robotics mechanisms
* 3+ years experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX or similar) and 2D Drafting with GD&T
* Experience working cross-functionally to rapidly prototype new concepts
* Experience designing for CNC machining, EDM, injection molding, die cutting, and laminating Experience in managing component vendors
* Experience planning and executing Design Of Experiments
* Hands-on experience selecting and optimizing motors and gear trains
* A master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
* Experience developing robotic end effectors that include elastomers and textiles
* Project management experience
