Project Context and Scope

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• Master’s degree in Development Studies, Political or Social Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, International Relations, Migration Studies Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant experience; or, 
• Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and, 
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.   
• Knowledge of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) tools.   
• Experience working at the community and individual level in rural and remote areas of Ethiopia.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in field level data collection, research, community-based response approaches etc. 
• Ability to transfer knowledge and skills on data collection, processing, and analysis. 
• Knowledge of Open Data Kit (ODK) and Kobo technology.
• Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)  
• Experience in recognized institutions on data collection in Ethiopia is an advantage. NGO/INGO experience is a plus.
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
• Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming. 
• Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.

Languages

Required

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). 

Desirable

Fluency in Amharic (oral and written) and local language of duty station.

Notes

IOM covers Affiliate Contractors against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Affiliate contractors are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
