Kiewit is one of North America’s largest and most respected engineering and construction organizations, and they are seeking Electrical Engineers to drive power, control, and energy systems for ambitious industrial projects. The role involves designing systems, collaborating with construction teams, and solving complex challenges in the industrial sector.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations and conceptual designs; utilizing standard methods and project principles for EPC and Design Build projects for large industrial facilities that may include Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Data Centers, Campus Energy, Industrial Energy
- Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects
- Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners. Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award
- Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans, performing calcuations of loads for equipment, voltage levels, designing the overall one line diagram which includes selection and sizing of equipment. Will be expected to support the development of detailed design documents, cable schedules, conduit routing, lighting, grounding and bonding plants
- Perform ETAP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies and grounding integrity. Experience with Power systems, preferably low and medium voltage
- Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed
- Work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our Clients the industry’s best of both engineering and physical design
- Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university
- Professional Engineering License is required
- At least 5+ years' experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities (which could include Chemical plants, Mining/Mineral Processing, Power, Water/Wastewater, Processing plants, Advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV Battery), and design and select equipment for power, switchgear, transformers, MCC's etc
- Experience performing Lighting layouts/calculations, grounding and bonding plans and working with all aspects of electrical design from cradle to grave
- Must have advanced experience with ETAP simulation/analysis is required (or similar software)
- Experience with SmartPlant, or similar software for design
- Must have experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression is required
- For more senior candidates, must have at least 5 years of experience leading electrical projects (managing work schedule, utilization, sequencing of work) along with a P.Eng is required to qualify at that level as well as experience leading and mentoring more junior engineers
- Due to the nature of some of our work, supporting nuclear projects, US Citizenship or Canadian Citizenship is required
- Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable
