Meade is a full-service design firm specializing in innovative engineering solutions for data centers and large-scale construction projects. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts, oversee project delivery, and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for mechanical design on data center projects
- Lead the design and engineering of HVAC, chilled water, and other mission-critical cooling systems
- Develop, review, and approve technical drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Coordinate with internal design teams and external stakeholders including clients, architects, and contractors
- Oversee mechanical design from concept through construction, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with codes and standards
- Conduct system analyses, equipment selections, and energy efficiency evaluations
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure on-time, high-quality outcomes
- Review and seal design documents as required under state licensure
- Support business development efforts through proposal writing, client presentations, and technical input
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with at least 5 years focused on data centers or mission-critical facilities
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required and in good standing
- Demonstrated experience acting as Engineer of Record (EOR) for mechanical systems
- Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
- In-depth knowledge of ASHRAE standards, building codes, and energy modeling principles
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trace 700)
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center projects
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency practices
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and field inspections
