Progressive Insurance is dedicated to helping employees move forward and live fully in their careers. As a DevOps cloud engineer lead, you will help advance the company's cloud capabilities and mentor others on cloud technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Help advance Progressive’s cloud capabilities by designing and supporting infrastructure solutions that enable teams to deliver business initiatives with greater speed, quality, and scalability
- Work closely with internal customers and business partners, bringing a more outward-facing focus than many traditional datacenter or back-office technology positions
- Mentor others on new cloud technologies and quality improvements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunication, Math) and minimum of six years working with operating system hardware and/or software components in designing and scripting infrastructure solutions
- In lieu of degree, minimum of eight years related experience working with operating system hardware and/or software components in designing and scripting infrastructure solutions
- Solid experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), including designing and supporting cloud-native solutions and modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps(preferred) including Markdown in GitHub
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or other tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Azure ARM/Bicep; proficiency in scripting and automation, including languages/tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, JSON, and YAML, with a focus on building scalable automation solutions
- Experience working with DevOps toolchains and build technologies (e.g., Git, Maven/Gradle, Ansible) to support continuous integration, deployment, and configuration management; proficient in leveraging AI such as Codex and or Claude Code
- Demonstrated ability to present and lead technical initiatives, influence cross-functional teams, and communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and leadership
- Proven ability to coach and mentor technical resources on existing and new cloud technologies
