Designer Brands is the parent company of DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse and operates numerous stores across North America. The Senior Analyst, Business Strategy & Analytics will play a key role in leveraging data to drive insights and support decision-making across various teams, focusing on analytics solutions that enhance business performance.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer trends and behaviors to uncover opportunities for growth and improved performance
- Translate complex data into clear, accessible insights tailored to a range of audiences, including senior leadership
- Deliver timely, accurate reporting to support both immediate needs and long-term strategic planning
- Develop, maintain, and improve reporting tools, dashboards, and analytical systems
- Ensure data integrity and governance across multiple data sources
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve analytics processes, tools, and methodologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and design both ad hoc and scalable solutions
- Act as a liaison between business teams and shared services to ensure alignment and usability of data solutions
- Participate in business meetings and category reviews to stay connected to priorities and evolving opportunities
- Serve as a subject matter resource across Customer, Marketing, and Digital analytics
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts
- Lead cross-functional analytics initiatives and influence decision-making through data-driven recommendations
- Help teams confidently use data tools and insights in their day-to-day work
- Train and support users to drive effective adoption of analytics resources
- Ensure insights are not only delivered, but understood and actionable
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a corporate retail analyst, planning, or financial role
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, including MS Access
- Proven track record of independently leading analytics initiatives and delivering measurable business impact
- Experience working with Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) application
- Strong proficiency in SQL (BigQuery experience is a plus)
- Experience with data mining and reporting tools
- Experience using data science programming languages such as R and Python
- Experience working with multiple data sources and validating data accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including application of retail mathematics and statistics
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to connect data insights to broader business strategies
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences, including leadership
- Experience working cross-functionally and influencing decision-making
- Comfortable leading projects and collaborating across multiple teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Open to continuous improvement and feedback
- Experience training others and supporting adoption of tools and processes
- Bachelor's Degree in Analytics or a STEM field (Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Applied Mathematics) with 5+ years of experience
- Master's Degree in Analytics or related STEM field
