POSITION PURPOSE:
The Student Engagement Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and execution of student activities and leadership programs. This position focuses on day-to-day operations and logistics to ensure successful and engaging campus programming.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate logistics for student events, including space reservations, vendor communication, and event setup.
- Assess the interests and needs of the student body relative to co-curricular involvement, opportunities, and programs.
- Encourage and assist students and student groups in the development of social, cultural, civic, intellectual, and recreational programs that expand the level of student involvement within the location community and society.
- Assist in the planning and execution of campus-wide programs and leadership initiatives.
- Provide direct support to student organizations, including event planning assistance and resource guidance.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation and engagement data.
- Assist with marketing efforts, including event promotion and communication strategies.
- Support the development and implementation of leadership programs and workshops.
- Collaborate with campus departments to support co-curricular programming.
- Maintain and publish the student events calendar.
- Supervise student workers as assigned.
- Assist with risk management and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Oversee and plan the Recreational Sports calendar.
- Provide marketing and promotions for all Rec Sports events.
- Direct supervision of all Rec Sports leagues, tournaments, and special events.
- Directly recruit and oversee Rec Sports officials.
- Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student work-study.

- Must be able to maintain order and discipline.
- Must have an understanding and prior experience in planning activities at a community college location.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- One – three (1-3) years of experience in event planning, student services, or campus programming.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience working in higher education or student affairs.
- Experience advising student organizations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
SALARY: $39,220. annually (This is a 12 month position to be paid over 12 months)
