INTRODUCTION:
The Bishop of Manchester is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular diocese entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocesan Administration Building helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. All employees of the diocesan administration assist the Bishop of Manchester in serving the parishes, schools and institutions of the Catholic Church in New Hampshire.
This is a part-time position reporting to the Bishop’s Delegate for Safe Environment, under the Office of the Chancellor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule visits to assigned parish, school, and camp sites throughout the state of New Hampshire,
- Travel to the Diocesan Administration Building in Manchester and to assigned parishes/schools,
- Interview parish/school personnel,
- Review of safe environment files and document results in spreadsheets,
- Identify missing and/or inaccurate information,
- Prepare detailed written reports,
- Prepare related documents,
- Conduct follow-up visits when necessary,
- Training will be provided.
- Travel will be reimbursed at the current IRS rate.
ENVIRONMENT
The venue of this position is the candidate’s home office, as well as site visits to various diocesan schools, parishes, and camps, and a general office environment that is clean, well-lit, and environmentally comfortable, on occasion.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Related work or volunteer experience required
- Experience as a Safe Environment Coordinator in a Diocese of Manchester parish, school, or camp is preferred.
- Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing
- Ability to complete work according to assigned deadlines
- Strong organization skills
- Attention to detail
- Confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism
- Proficiency with computers, including email and Microsoft Word
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and automobile required
- It is strongly preferred that the candidate be a practicing Catholic.
This position requires the ability to:
- Occasionally lift, carry, or move up to ten pounds
- Reach at or above shoulder level and/or occasionally reach below shoulder level
- Frequently manipulate equipment and controls and/or occasionally grasp and handle with hands
- Mobility includes regular sitting, standing, and walking.
- Have some flexibility in scheduling appointments to accommodate the schedules of parish, school, and/or camp personnel.
