Senior Youth Worker – Community Programs
About the Organisation
Every day, Life Without Barriers provides support and care to children and young people as we work collaboratively with families, carers and communities to ensure they have the environment they deserve to grow. With a focus on safety, respect and inclusion, this is an opportunity to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of young people and help pave a brighter future.
Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose organisation of over 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people, and people with mental illness. We also work alongside people experiencing homelessness, as well as refugees and asylum seekers. Join a community of people dedicated to breaking down barriers.
We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the people we support. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Worker to provide high-quality, trauma-informed support to young people across a range of specialised community programs in the Toowoomba region.
This is a varied, community-based outreach role where no two days are the same. You will provide case management, mentoring, advocacy and practical support to empower young people to achieve greater independence, stability and positive life outcomes.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will report to the Program Manager and provide services across four specialised programs, each designed to support young people at different stages of their journey.
Thrive
A Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program which provides nationally recognised training, mentoring, and employment support to disadvantaged young people. The program helps participants build skills, gain qualifications, improve job readiness, and transition into employment, training, or further education.
Youth Housing and Reintegration Service (YHaRS)
YHaRS supports young people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. The program assists young people to access and sustain safe accommodation while supporting them to reconnect with education, employment, family and community, promoting long-term independence and stability.
Next Step Plus (NSP)
Next Step Plus supports young people transitioning from statutory care into adulthood. The program focuses on building independent living skills, strengthening support networks and assisting participants to access education, training and employment opportunities as they move towards independent living.
Extended Post Care Support (EPCS)
Extended Post Care Support provides ongoing practical assistance and tailored case management to young adults who have left care. The program supports participants to maintain stable housing, continue their education or employment pathways and access services that promote long-term wellbeing and independence.
