About this role
Netflix is a leading entertainment company focused on pushing the boundaries of storytelling through technology. They are seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer to help evolve their data infrastructure, enabling various business functions to leverage data for critical decision-making. The role involves building scalable systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data movement and developer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Help evolve and innovate our infrastructure
- Build secure, scalable, and high‑leverage infrastructure abstractions
- Identify common challenges across Online Data Stores and Data Movement platforms
- Work on platforms that sit at the heart of Netflix’s data ecosystem
- Build resilience and reliability tooling, including SLI/SLO enablement, and a Fault Management platform for large fleets
- Provide a self-service, abstracted platform for data movement and processing needs
- Focus on operational automation, reliability and data consistency
- Develop and maintain a high-performance, reliable, and efficient key-value store
- Enhance developer productivity by providing a secure, intuitive and opinionated access layer for backing storage engines
- Boost productivity by developing cutting-edge data tools and infrastructure
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications
- Proficient in the design and development of RESTful web services
- Experienced in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
- Experienced in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- Comfortable tackling multi-threading challenges
- BS in Computer Science or a related field
