Reporting to the Corporate Controller and partnering closely with the VP, Finance, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in supporting corporate and operational accounting, treasury, and taxation. This is a hands-on role for a driven professional looking to accelerate their career, make a tangible impact, and leverage accounting systems and technology to optimize efficiency and accuracy across financial processes.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:
Key Accountabilities
Accounting & Internal Controls:
- Drive accurate and timely financial reporting by supporting the Corporate Controller with month-end close execution, including the preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with internal and external reporting, including variance analyses and supporting schedules.
- Support Corporate Controller in quarterly review and year-end audit, including audit requests throughout the year.
- Work alongside the Corporate Controller and Compliance Manager to maintain and enhance business processes and controls, ensuring a strong SOX compliance environment (including ICFR, ITGC, and ELC) related to key areas of responsibility.
- Support technical accounting matters including preparing and reviewing technical memos and compliance with corporate accounting policies.
- Provide ongoing guidance and development support to junior accounting staff in daily operational accounting functions.
Treasury & Cash Management:
- Partner with the VP, Finance and Corporate Controller to manage corporate cash flow and liquidity planning.
- Build, manage, and own short- and long-term cash flow forecasting models including end-to-end direct and indirect cash flow statements reporting, balance sheet forecasting and working capital monitoring to meet business demands.
- Own cash and banking oversight by monitoring daily positions and ensuring the accuracy of weekly reports, transaction postings, and month-end reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end and quarter-end cash flow variance analysis.
- Liaise with banking partners for treasury services and documentation.
Tax Compliance and Support:
- Work alongside our in-house tax consultant to maintain global tax compliance across jurisdictions (Canada, US, South Korea, and other jurisdictions as applicable) and support tax audits if they arise.
- Support tax compliance and incentives, including reviewing sales tax filings (VAT, GST, PST, and CAT) prepared by junior team members and coordinating internal documentation for tax credits (e.g., SR&ED, IDLR, BC IDMTC, and MTC).
- Assist with the preparation and review of tax provisions by external advisors and ensure appropriate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Review tax memos and transfer pricing policies as required.
Strategic Leadership & Process Improvement:
- Define and track KPIs that measure the impact of process and system improvements on close speed, data quality and reporting accuracy.
- Partner with internal teams (e.g., procurement, studio ops, and other shared services) to resolve issues and streamline shared workflows.
- Drive stakeholder buy-in across business units and manage high-priority ad hoc requests to support evolving business needs.
- Identify and implement AI and LLM-powered solutions to modernize accounting processes, enhance accuracy, and drive continuous workflow improvement - and lead or contribute to broader cross-functional initiatives including ERP upgrades and system implementation.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or equivalent qualification required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, including 2+ years managing a team.
- Experience in SOX and parent company reporting are an asset.
- Prior experience in public accounting is an asset.
- Experience in a technology, gaming or SaaS company with multi-jurisdictional operations and a scaling finance function is an asset.
- Track record for designing or improving accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
- Strong working knowledge in IFRS or US GAAP, with experience in US and Canadian Tax filings.
- Demonstrated experience using automation, AI tools or system improvements to streamline accounting processes - and a genuine enthusiasm for doing more of it.
- Experience with Netsuite, FloQast, Medius are an asset.
- Advanced skills in Excel and G-suite.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Thrives working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-growth environment and brings a builder’s mindset to ambiguous problems.
- Curious and proactive about applying new technology and AI tools to old problems.
