Piper Companies is seeking a remote Business Analyst to support a healthcare technology engineering team within a large Health Information Exchange (HIE) organization. This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and engineering teams, translating high-level healthcare and product needs into clear, actionable user stories and technical requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and refine business and technical requirements from stakeholders
- Translate high-level needs into user stories and acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to ensure requirements are clear and executable
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming, standups, and retrospectives
- Maintain and prioritize product backlog in partnership with product and engineering teams
- Identify gaps or ambiguities in requirements and proactively clarify with stakeholders
- Create workflow diagrams and process documentation as needed
- Support API and system integration requirements (REST/SOAP environments)
- Ensure stories meet Definition of Ready and Definition of Done standards
- Support QA validation and release readiness activities
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of Business Analyst or similar experience in a software development environment
- Strong experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Ability to translate vague or complex requirements into structured deliverables
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience collaborating with developers and QA teams
- Experience with REST APIs and/or SOAP services
- Familiarity with Postman or API testing tools
- Experience with Jira or Agile project management tools
- Exposure to workflow tools (Figma, Balsamiq, etc.)
- Understanding of SDLC in enterprise environments
- Healthcare or HIE experience strongly preferred
- Azure DevOps exposure a plus
