Job Description:
"The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist
utilizes knowledge of insurance regulations, health insurance contracts,
medical coding, and bookkeeping to perform a variety of revenue cycle support
activities. These include but are not limited to medical coding, insurance
verification, ensuring the accuracy of the information housed in the practice
management system, preparing deposits, collecting, posting, and managing
account payments, submitting accurate claims, and following up on accounts.

Job Duties:
Answer phones.
Greet patients.
Registering patients.
Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies either
electronically or by paper.
Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract
discount.
Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary.
Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
Research and appeal denied claims.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Maintain accurate records of patient accounts, including payments received and
outstanding balances.
Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families by addressing
billing inquiries and resolving any billing issues.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the center to ensure
accurate and timely billing processes."
Requirements
High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent -
University/college degree, or experience medical records, claims or billing
areas is an asset. Previous medical office experience preferred.
Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology
(CPT) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes required. No covid vaccine is required.
