Syllo is on a mission to transform litigation with an AI-powered workspace for legal professionals. They are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead a new Systems team, focusing on platforms, frameworks, and architecture while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to members of the Platforms team, supporting their professional growth and helping them achieve their potential
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud-based infrastructure using Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies
- Collaborate with our AI team to optimize data pipelines and integrate AI technologies to remove performance bottlenecks
- Refactor existing systems to enhance scalability, including transforming stateful components into stateless ones, and applying extensive autoscaling and auto-repair mechanisms
- Lead efforts on data ingestion and export processes, improving efficiency and reducing dependencies on legacy technologies
- Drive platform reliability initiatives, including enhancing alerting, health checking, and incident management
- Champion continuous improvement efforts, including cost control measures and technological upgrades
- Oversee the development of internal tools that streamline workflows and reduce duplication of effort in development environments
- Ensure the platform meets rigorous testing and security standards to maintain data integrity and security
- Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure meeting SLA
Requirements:
- Core software engineering skills, including proficiency in languages such as Python and Ruby
- Strong system administration experience, including fluency with Linux, networking, and bash scripting
- Proficiency with GCP
- Proficiency with cloud tools and distributed systems, such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Elasticsearch, or equivalent technologies
- Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform
- Ability to design and implement scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience addressing scaling challenges and resource contention in distributed systems
- Engagement with the open-source community, including tool research, bug reporting, and code contribution
- Expertise in cloud data security
