Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Software Engineer II. In this role, you will design and deliver secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions using Python, microservices, and AWS while providing technical leadership and mentoring team members.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance Python-based microservices, APIs, and cloud-native solutions
- Deliver high-quality software through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering best practices
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions, helping drive decisions that support scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
- Monitor and improve application performance, observability, resiliency, and operational readiness while troubleshooting and resolving production issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including architecture, security, operations, product, and business teams, to deliver effective solutions
- Research and implement new technologies, tools, and engineering practices that improve developer productivity, delivery speed, and customer outcomes
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to fellow engineers while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture
Requirements:
- Experience designing and delivering secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions using Python
