Senior Data Engineer

AltoIRA is a fintech company that helps individuals invest their retirement savings in alternative assets such as startups, real estate, and private equity. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex data systems, mentor teammates, and ensure high data quality and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Own and deliver complex, cross-cutting pipelines, data models, and platform improvements
• Lead technical design for ingestion, transformation, and storage, balancing scalability, reliability, and compliance needs
• Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design guidance
• Drive improvements to data quality, observability, performance, and cost efficiency
• Collaborate cross-functionally to scope work, manage tradeoffs, and deliver outcomes
• Help set data engineering standards and influence architecture decisions

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering
• Proven experience building and operating production data systems in fintech and/or investment technology, including strong correctness/auditability constraints (e.g., transactions/money movement, reconciliation, reporting, controls). Experience with alternative assets and transaction/ledgering data is required
• Strong SQL and Python; solid data modeling and pipeline design skills
• Depth with modern data tooling (Snowflake/PostgreSQL, dbt, Airflow, ingestion tools such as Stitch/dltHub) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience improving reliability, performance, and maintainability of data pipelines
• Strong communication skills, including explaining data decisions to non-technical partners
• Demonstrated mentorship and leadership through influence
• Experience with real-time/streaming architectures and event-driven design
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD for data pipelines
• Prior experience in regulated environments (fintech, healthcare, etc.) and audit-ready data practices
