Programmer, CNC - 18506
Description
Uses samples and prints, machine program requested parts using CAD/CAM system to produce C.N.C. code to fabricate aircraft parts in a production environment. Performs assigned tasks within budgeted time while maintaining Company, FAA, and customers' standards of quality. The CNC Programmer is responsible for working in a safe manner, eliminating waste and delivering a quality product on time.
What you will be responsible for:
- Perform work as assigned utilizing Company paperwork/ drawings to produce CAD/CAM machine programs within estimated or budgeted hours and within FAA and Company standards of quality.
- Perform typical CNC and Manual machine shop operations, using milling machines (horizontal and vertical); operate lathes, drill press, hydraulic press, grinders and other shop equipment.
- Perform layouts and prepare shop drawings as required using CAD/CAM system to produce CNC code for multiple machines (mills and lathes) for multiple personnel.
- Maintain and understand Company, and customer aircraft maintenance documentation programs.
- Promote a culture of safety by monitoring self and others to assure all duties are performed within the guidelines as specified by the Safety Manual.
- Promote a positive and conducive atmosphere in the training of other Machinists on machining and programming of parts.
- Troubleshoot programming problems with programs and work with Machinists on the floor in resolving machine/programming issues.
- Use and operate safely all appropriate hand tools and other machinery associated with the machine shop.
- Learn and apply Epicor Vantage production software to the shop production environment.
- Assist other Machinists in the performance of maintenance and/or repairs as appropriate.
- Keep own and adjacent work area clean, and perform with other assigned machinist weekly shop clean-up
- Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
What you need to be successful in this role:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have own tools as required by company tool list.
- Minimum 3 (three) years’ experience as CNC Programmer and/or 18 months experience as a CNC Machinist with intermediate machine programming experience within a machine shop.
- Associates degree in CNC Programming or similar technical program may be used as a substitute for 2 years direct CNC Programming experience.
- Ability to use Mastercam and AutoCAD software.
- Must be able to read and use blueprints, structure repair manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, ATA code and service bulletins.
- Must be knowledgeable in metal identification and tooling requirements for a production environment.
- Read, write and understand the English language.
- Preferred: Mastercam and Solid Works experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Subject to continual loud noises.
- Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, stand for prolonged periods of time; climb steps, ladders and/or service stands.
- Must be able to safely work around hazardous chemicals, solvents, resins and adhesives.
