MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Independent Client Engagement Director to join our Recompete Strategy & Execution Team in Herndon, VA. This is a hybrid remote position with 2 days onsite and 3 days remote.
This strategic leadership role acts as an executive sponsor for MANTECH’s premier, top-tier client programs valued at $100M+, providing an objective, independent lens on program performance and client sentiment from initial contract award through the full Period of Performance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Act as an executive sponsor for MANTECH’s premier, top-tier client programs valued at $100M+ from initial contract award through the full Period of Performance.
Provide an objective, independent lens on program performance and client sentiment, remaining deliberately separate and distinct from day-to-day project management.
Focus purely on strategic foresight, early trust-building, and proactive issue identification to safeguard critical recompetes.
Uncover strategic expansion opportunities across MANTECH’s core technical offerings to protect the base and support recompete success.
Maintain a regular cadence of independent, quarterly strategic dialogues with clients focused on macro-level satisfaction and proactive risk identification.
Evaluate and deliver an unbiased view of program performance quality, translating client feedback into actionable sentiment scores and mapping cross-practice capabilities to address mission gaps.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED with 12+ years of progressive experience in the Federal Governance/Defense Contracting (GovCon) industry, with a proven track record in executive-level account management, capture strategy, or strategic growth.
Direct experience interfacing with, managing, or consulting on massive federal programs or portfolios valued at $100M+.
Deep understanding of the federal procurement lifecycle, gate review processes, and sophisticated defense strategies.
Exceptional communication and active listening skills, with the executive presence required to engage comfortably with C-suite corporate executives, Sector leaders, and senior Government officials (SES/Flag Officers).
Proven ability to collaborate seamlessly across corporate boundaries, working in lockstep with Sector leaders, Program Managers, and Growth teams without creating operational friction.
An independent mindset capable of separating delivery optics from true client sentiment to identify hidden risks, programmatic blind spots, and "white space" opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree or executive leadership training preferred.
15+ years of experience across federal program execution, delivery, capture, business development, and portfolio growth.
Demonstrated success acting as a strategic bridge to introduce specialized technical practice areas and capabilities to the client, laying the groundwork for organic on-contract growth expansion.
Clearance Requirements:
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations and exchanging accurate information.
Must be able to travel and visit client locations in person as part of direct conversations with our clients.
