System Engineer IV - Hydrological Modeling Engineer

GAMA-1 Technologies is a rapidly growing technology business based in Greenbelt, Maryland, providing strategic information assurance and networking solutions to the Federal Government. They are seeking a System Engineer IV - Hydrological Modeling Engineer to serve as the technical authority for flood inundation science and operational forecasting performance, ensuring the TRITON model delivers accurate flood forecasts.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy, configure, optimize, and validate hydrological models within high-performance computing (HPC) environments
• Integrate hydrological modeling capabilities into operational forecasting systems and computational workflows
• Conduct scientific testing and validation activities to ensure model accuracy, reliability, and performance
• Optimize model execution and computational performance to improve efficiency and scalability
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting model performance, processing workflows, and operational execution
• Validate model outputs against baseline datasets and established performance benchmarks
• Support the transition of research-based modeling capabilities into operational forecasting environments
• Analyze model results and recommend improvements to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational effectiveness
• Collaborate with Government stakeholders, technical teams, and research partners to achieve program objectives
• Provide technical expertise and support for flood forecasting, hydrological modeling, and computational science activities

Requirements:

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computational Science, or a related field
• Specialized training, certifications, or demonstrated expertise in NVIDIA GPU Computing and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments
• Advanced knowledge of hydrology, flood modeling, computational science, and scientific computing principles
• Experience deploying, configuring, and optimizing large-scale hydrodynamic and flood forecasting models
• Experience working with high-performance computing environments, parallel processing architectures, and GPU-accelerated computing platforms
• Proficiency with scientific programming and model development using languages and technologies such as C++, CUDA, or similar computational frameworks
• Experience compiling, porting, and deploying scientific models within complex operational computing environments
• Demonstrated experience optimizing computational workflows and improving processing efficiency for large-scale scientific applications
• Experience developing and implementing batch-processing, automation, or parallel-processing solutions to support computational modeling activities
• Experience validating scientific model outputs against baseline datasets, benchmarks, or established performance standards
• Knowledge of model calibration, verification, validation, and performance assessment methodologies
• Experience supporting the transition of research-based capabilities into operational environments
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions within scientific computing environments
• Experience collaborating with Government stakeholders, research organizations, and multidisciplinary technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to support mission-critical systems requiring accuracy, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
