NuScale Power is a company focused on developing advanced nuclear technology. The Test Engineer 1 position involves supporting the Test Engineering Manager by developing and executing test programs that aid in the design, certification, and deployment of the NuScale Microreactor.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, devlops and executes various types of test programs including proof-of-concept, component, performance, functional, compliance, reliability and environmental qualification
- Identity suitable metallography and materials characterization methods as part of materials development and testing
- Participates in test planning, development and review of test specification, approval of supplier test procedures, oversight of test execution, data review and data acceptance
- Manage small projects and oversees test project progression through supplier evaluation, contract execution, design, implementation, testing, reporting, data acceptance, and contract close out
- Prepares test program budgets, schedules, resource requirements, statements-of-work, requests for quote, test specifications and test reports
- Leads and reviews design drawings, sketches, schematics, procedures, results, reports and documentation
- Leads test hardware design reviews for small projects and resolves comments stemming from these reviews
- Analyzes test data and validation efforts that utilize test data
- Organize data sets from test program
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810

- An advanced degree is preferred
- Experience in executing, developing and managing testing programs for materials, fluid, mechanical or electro-mechanical hardware or devices is desired
- Knowledge of and experience with refractory metals and high temperature applications is preferred, i.e. greater than 800 °C
