Job Title: Platform Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Platform Engineer to support RTX in building and scaling advanced cloud-native platforms that enable AI/ML, automation, and modern application development. This role will focus on designing, integrating, and operating Kubernetes-based platforms using GitOps and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Kubernetes platform engineering, experience supporting centralized platform teams, and the ability to integrate AI/ML capabilities into production-grade systems. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can operate across infrastructure, automation, and application enablement while driving engineering standards and mentoring team members.
Top Skills (Must Haves):
- Deep Kubernetes (K8s) expertise in enterprise platform environments
- Strong experience with GitOps tools and practices (ArgoCD)
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with platform tools such as Istio, Kyverno, Crossplane, and Backstage
- Experience supporting centralized platform teams serving multiple application teams
- Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments
- Proficiency in Python and software development (SDLC, CI/CD)
What You'll Be Doing:
- Act as a system integrator for APIs, SDKs, and automation tools to deliver AI/ML and platform capabilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy scalable, production-grade platform solutions
- Manage and operate Kubernetes environments using GitOps (ArgoCD) and Terraform
- Enable and support AI/ML capabilities including MLOps, AIOps, and GenAI integration into production systems
- Collaborate with product managers, technical leadership, and engineering teams to deliver platform solutions
- Ensure platforms are scalable, observable, resilient, and aligned with best practices
- Maintain both high-level architecture and low-level system design perspectives
- Support CI/CD, automation pipelines, and engineering standards
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and drive best practices across teams
- Contribute to documentation, technical support, and knowledge sharing
Nice to Have / Additional Notes:
- Experience building or supporting platforms for AI/ML and Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Familiarity with service mesh (Istio) and policy management (Kyverno)
- Experience with developer self-service platforms (Backstage)
- Experience with Crossplane for infrastructure orchestration
- Strong experience in multi-cloud environments
- Familiarity with REST APIs, Node.js, and SQL
- Experience in large-scale, multi-disciplinary engineering teams
