Controls Engineer – Material Handling & Conveyor Systems (Contract / 1099)

OptiTech Engineering Solutions is an industrial automation consulting firm providing PLC programming and controls integration for various facilities. They are seeking experienced Controls Engineers to support conveyor and material handling projects across the United States.

Responsibilities:

• Commission and start up conveyor and material handling systems
• Troubleshoot and modify PLC programs
• Perform I/O checkout and system validation
• Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, barcode scanners, photo eyes, and other field devices
• Support system testing and customer acceptance
• Diagnose electrical and controls issues during startup
• Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and mechanical teams
• Travel to customer sites for project assignments

Requirements:

• 3+ years of controls engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with conveyor and material handling systems
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCs
• Experience using Studio 5000 Logix Designer
• Experience with FactoryTalk View ME and/or SE
• Startup and commissioning experience
• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot industrial control systems
• Willingness to travel for project assignments

• AS/RS (Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems)
• Kinetix servo systems
• Ethernet/IP networking
• Cognex vision systems
• Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Experience with system integrators or automation companies such as Dematic, Fortna, Vanderlande, Honeywell Intelligrated, Daifuku, Swisslog, or similar material handling companies
