Red Ventures is a company that owns Bankrate, a platform helping consumers make informed financial decisions. The Software Engineer will build and maintain reliable software systems, contributing to architectural discussions and improving team performance through collaboration and technical execution.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable systems or product features
- Contribute to system and API design, ensuring alignment with team standards and best practices
- Write high-quality, testable, and maintainable code across the full stack
- Identify performance bottlenecks and propose improvements for speed and efficiency
- Scope, estimate, and deliver technical solutions independently with minimal oversight
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify requirements and ensure alignment on priorities
- Participate in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback and fostering a learning culture
- Contribute to automation, observability, and deployment improvements
- Mentor Associate and Junior Engineers through collaboration, pair programming, and example
Requirements:
- Proficient in one or more programming languages and experienced in database technologies and cloud infrastructure
- Strong understanding of software architecture, data modeling, and design patterns
- Able to debug complex issues and trace problems across systems
- Demonstrated ability to balance tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and agile development methodologies
- Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to drive delivery and quality
- Demonstrates ownership and accountability for their work, with consistent follow-through
- Works across a primarily TypeScript-based stack spanning API services and full-stack web frameworks
- Comfortable navigating cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines
- Some exposure to application performance monitoring/observability tooling and content delivery (CDN) considerations
- Actively integrates AI tooling into their workflow to improve velocity and quality, experimenting with new capabilities and sharing what works with the team
