Summit Technology Consulting Group is a company that powers government loans, grants, and fraud prevention programs with a cloud-based platform. They are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong Python and Django skills to design and build scalable applications, collaborating with product and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using Python and Django
- Develop robust APIs using Django REST Framework (DRF)
- Implement asynchronous processing (e.g., Celery) for high-performance workloads
- Optimize data handling and performance with PostgreSQL and caching strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers
- Participate in and lead code reviews, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and performance issues
- Contribute to system architecture and technical direction, including microservices design
- Mentor junior engineers and support a culture of continuous improvement
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in software development, with strong Python and Django expertise
- Experience building scalable, high-performance web applications
- Strong understanding of APIs, web technologies, and backend architecture
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with modern development tools (Git, CI/CD, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Ability to obtain and maintain government clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
- Occasional travel to the DC area for key team and client engagements
- Experience in fintech or regulated environments
- Familiarity with React, Angular, or other front-end frameworks
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or DevOps practices
- Contributions to open-source or active participation in engineering communities
