About this role
Samsara is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which helps organizations harness IoT data to improve their operations. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive innovation and resilience across their Identity and Access Management platform, focusing on authentication and authorization strategies while mentoring teammates.
Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve IAM foundations for AI Agents, including agent identity, permission guardrails, and enterprise-grade audit systems
- Design and build authentication and authorization systems that are reliable, standards-based, and performant for millions of global users
- Propose and implement technical solutions, guide system architecture, and ensure features are integrated across the stack (frontend, backend, databases, APIs, AI agents)
- Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering to solve complex, cross-functional risk and governance challenges
- Support and develop engineers on the team through code reviews, design discussions, and career development

Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience building and operating production software using modern engineering practices
- Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM systems, threat models, and mitigations
- Strong programming/coding fundamentals in a language such as Java, Python, or Golang
- Experience designing and operating highly reliable, scalable distributed systems
- Experience building security-sensitive or identity-related systems in production
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority
- Enterprise Identity and Access Management experience: OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, SAML, JWT, Session Management, or adjacent identity/security systems
- In-depth experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience building secure authentication or authorization capabilities for web and/or mobile
- Experience building AI Agent or Non-Human identity platforms
