Senior Platform Engineer

Rise8 builds custom, secure software for government organizations, measuring success by impact. As a Senior Platform Engineer at Rise8, you will create and implement automated processes and collaborate with developers to enhance platform performance and user experience.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement automated configuration and deployment processes to enhance the performance, accessibility, and ease of management of the platform and its related services
• Establish and manage administrator and service accounts, while also maintaining accurate system documentation and effectively resolving technical issues
• Utilize scripting tools to craft self-service capabilities within the Platform as a Service (PaaS), fostering a seamless developer experience for development teams
• Collaborate closely with developers to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, ensuring smooth operations
• Take on the operational responsibility for the services under your team's ownership

• Continuously enhance the product, delivering software that resonates positively with users and meets their needs effectively
• Champion AI-augmented ways of working across your engagement(s), leveraging AI tooling to accelerate delivery, reduce cycle time, and drive better outcomes at scale

Requirements:

• A background of 6-10 years in cloud/platform operations or related roles across diverse environments
• Proficiency in administering cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Expertise in container orchestration, specifically Kubernetes
• Proficient use of Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools, with a focus on Terraform
• Subject Matter Expertise in Linux Operating Systems administration
• Skilled in developing automation solutions using scripting languages to streamline recurring tasks
• Familiarity with networking concepts and practical experience involving technologies like Load Balancers, DNS, SSL, Firewalls, NAT, and NTP
• Proven ability to troubleshoot operating systems and applications effectively
• Experience handling large-scale production systems and adeptness in resolving production-related challenges
• Excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in collaborative work environments
• Enthusiasm for skill growth, a penchant for tackling intriguing tasks, and addressing complex issues
• A degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Ability to obtain a security clearance for US Government work
• Proficiency in troubleshooting challenges using the Linux/Unix command line interface
• Possession of recognized Professional Certifications such as RHCE, Linux+, MCSA, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, Security+, CISSP, and CCNA
• Background in DevOps automation practices
• Direct experience in client interaction
