Andesa is the leading provider of policy and plan administration solutions in the Advanced Markets space. They are seeking a Head of Product Management to develop and execute a product strategy and roadmap for their software platforms, while building and leading a high-performing product management team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and publish Andesa’s first integrated product roadmap for the two software platforms: the carrier policy administration platform and the emerging broker plan administration platform
- Establish a clear strategy for each — defending and extending category leadership in carrier policy admin and accelerating product-market fit and growth in plan admin
- Make principled investment trade-offs across the two products
- Build Andesa’s market intelligence practice
- Develop a structured view of competitors (other policy admin vendors, carrier in-house systems, modern insurtech entrants, broker-tech platforms), regulatory and distribution shifts, buyer trends in each segment, and emerging adjacencies
- Translate this into clear recommendations on what to build, buy, partner on, or pass
- In partnership with Client Success, stand up a repeatable VOC practice across both buyer segments — carriers and brokers
- Establish client advisory boards, win/loss analysis, churn and expansion diagnostics, and structured intake from sales, client success and services, and the business analyst team
- Turn anecdotes into insights and insights into prioritized investments
- Bring discipline to the flow of client-driven enhancement requests
- Establish frameworks that distinguish one-off customizations from platform-worthy capabilities, create transparent prioritization across clients and products, and protect platform integrity and gross margin while keeping clients heard and well-served
- Partner with Sales, Finance, and Senior Leadership on product pricing, packaging, tiering, and module strategy for both software products
- Quantify the commercial impact of roadmap investments and ensure new capabilities are positioned and priced to win
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Client Success on positioning, messaging, sales enablement, demo strategy, launch plans, and customer references
- Build the connective tissue between Product, Sales, Client Success, Services, and Technology
- Establish the operating cadence — quarterly planning, roadmap reviews, release planning, executive readouts — that unite the company around a shared set of priorities
- Partner with Technology leadership on agile practices, release management, technical debt prioritization, platform investments, and the balance between client-specific delivery and core product development
- Be hands-on in backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and release planning, especially in the early months as the function is being established
- Contribute meaningfully to Andesa’s user conferences as a product voice
- External positioning at the analyst and industry-conference level will be shared with executive leadership; you will be expected to represent the product organization credibly in direct client and prospect conversations, as necessary
- Lead structured evaluations of when to build, license, or partner
- Develop a perspective on integrations, APIs, and the broader ecosystem around our software platforms
- Support M&A efforts to evaluate and execute targeted add-ons to enable scale and market expansion
- Define the product organization’s KPIs and OKRs for the two software products
- Own product-level outcome metrics — adoption, retention, expansion, win rates, time-to-value, NPS — and ensure investment decisions are tied to measurable business impact
- Recruit and develop Andesa’s first product management team, drawing primarily from our existing bench of senior business analysts and client-facing leaders
- Identify internal candidates with the strategic instincts and growth potential to move into product manager and product owner roles
- Coach direct reports who may be stepping into formal product roles for the first time
- Define career paths, frameworks, rituals, and standards for the function
- Supplement with external hires where the internal bench has gaps
Requirements:
- 8+ years in product management, primarily at an enterprise software company, with at least 3–5 years in product leadership or management roles
- Demonstrated experience building a product management team, setting the product vision, and developing and managing the product roadmap
- A track record of developing product talent, especially developing first-time product managers. The right candidate will be energized by coaching former business analysts and similar transfers/promotes into strong product managers and product owners
- Strong analytical rigor and commercial fluency. Comfort with pricing, packaging, unit economics, and tying product investments to business outcomes
- Diplomatic skill and political maturity. The ability to introduce product discipline into a successful, long-tenured organization without alienating institutional knowledge holders, and to say no to demanding clients without damaging relationships
- Strong executive communication. Credible with senior stakeholders at carrier and broker clients in direct engagements and at user conferences. Experience presenting to and engaging with Client Advisory Boards
- Bachelor's degree required
- Background in Insurance, Financial Services, and/or Broker-Carrier like ecosystems
- Domain experience in life insurance, annuities, retirement, executive benefits, or closely adjacent enterprise software categories — policy administration, claims administration, retirement recordkeeping, wealth or trust platforms, broker and agency technology
- Background working with complex, highly regulated, or workflow‑heavy enterprise products
- Experience with an enterprise software business going through a services-to-product or customization-to-platform transition
- Familiarity with long, multi‑stakeholder, B2B customer journeys and experiences
- MBA or equivalent strategic experience
