Software Development Engineer in Test - SDET

Certa.ai is an AI-first third-party operating system that helps enterprises manage their vendors and suppliers. They are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET II) who will own significant parts of the test infrastructure and drive quality strategies across the engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Build test infrastructure: Architect and implement test frameworks and infrastructure, and make architectural decisions about test design patterns and abstractions
• Drive quality strategy: Design testing strategies for new features and platform capabilities, and integrate testing earlier in the development lifecycle through cross-team collaboration
• Optimize & maintain: Refactor and optimize existing test suites for maintainability and performance, and improve CI/CD pipeline performance and test execution times
• Manage environments & tooling: Build and manage AWS-based test environments, and develop custom tooling and reporting to surface quality insights
• Mentor: Mentor SDET I engineers and conduct technical code reviews

Requirements:

• Extensive Playwright experience (including deep knowledge of fixtures architecture)
• Object-oriented test framework design with layered patterns (PCOM/POM) and scalable abstractions over linear scripts
• API testing/orchestration (REST/GraphQL integrated with UI workflows)
• Advanced TypeScript (generics, decorators, advanced typing patterns, type inference)
• Deep understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, and race-condition prevention
• Strong software design principles including domain-driven design and patterns (Factory, Builder, Facade, Composite)
• Hands-on AWS (EC2 configuration, CloudWatch log analysis, debugging cloud environments)
• Docker (containerization, docker-compose, image management)
• CI/CD debugging and optimization, with Terraform a plus
• Expert-level Git, GitHub, and distributed version control workflows
• Advanced reporting (Allure, Playwright HTML reports, custom solutions)
• Test infrastructure and framework architecture
• Performance optimization at scale
• npm ecosystem/package management
