About this role
Rackner is a cloud-native software consultancy delivering solutions for startups, enterprises, and the public sector. They are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to support mission-critical systems in a secure environment, involving the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions using modern programming languages
- Build and deploy cloud-native, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Develop and maintain microservices-based architectures and RESTful APIs
- Implement event-driven architectures using tools such as Kafka
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices to enable rapid, secure delivery
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment
- Support observability, monitoring, and system performance optimization
Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages: Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or TypeScript
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as: Angular, React, or Vue.js
- Experience with backend frameworks such as: Flask, Django, or Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with: Docker and Kubernetes, Helm for Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of: Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications, Event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or Jenkins
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform and/or Ansible
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools
- Experience supporting DoD or federal programs
- Familiarity with secure software development practices
- Experience working in highly regulated or classified environments
