About this role
Cognizant is seeking a Test Automation Engineer – Playwright & API Automation to develop scalable automation solutions and drive quality engineering best practices. The role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality applications across enterprise platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Playwright and modern automation technologies
- Create and execute automated test suites for UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
- Collaborate with Agile teams to define test strategies, develop test cases, and ensure comprehensive quality coverage
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and DevOps best practices
- Perform backend validation using SQL, analyze defects and quality metrics, and support release validation activities
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Test Automation
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on test automation experience, including at least 2+ years of Playwright experience
- Strong experience in API testing and automation using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent frameworks
- Proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries, validate data integrity, perform backend testing, and analyze results
- Experience working in Agile environments utilizing BDD, Cucumber, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and CI/CD methodologies
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and continuous testing principles
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-scale automation frameworks
- Strong knowledge of functional, regression, integration, API, UI, and end-to-end testing methodologies
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a global onsite-offshore delivery model and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Insurance domain experience
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
- Experience researching, evaluating, and implementing emerging automation tools and technologies
- Experience with test reporting, quality metrics, defect triage, and release validation processes
