The Building People, LLC is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer to provide design and technical support for facility control system projects for the Department of Defense. The role involves collaborating with senior engineers and project managers to ensure the delivery of code-compliant and reliable systems.
Responsibilities:
- Providing design and technical support for facility control system projects, including UMCS, HVAC controls and DDC, SCADA, Fire Alarm Systems, Electronic Security Systems, and metering
- Preparing calculations, drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation
- Coordinating power and controls interfaces
- Assisting with submittal reviews and RFIs
- Supporting factory and site testing, integrated system testing, and commissioning
- Producing as-built updates and O&M inputs
Requirements:
- Five (5) years of experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering, including at least three (3) years in the functional area aligned to this work
- Demonstrated experience developing engineered designs and documentation for UMCS, HVAC controls and DDC, SCADA, FAS, ESS, and metering
- Proficiency preparing load and capacity calculations, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring and control diagrams, hydronic and airside schematics, sequences of operation, point lists, and equipment schedules
- Experience supporting factory tests, site tests, integrated system tests, and final acceptance; coordinating deficiency resolution and as-built updates
- Working knowledge of applicable criteria and codes, including UFGS, UFC, NFPA 70 and 72, NFPA 101, ASHRAE 55/62.1/90.1, IMC, IBC, and relevant industry standards
- Familiarity with ICS cybersecurity touchpoints that influence design (for example: network segmentation, PPS allowlisting, secure configurations) in coordination with cybersecurity teams
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, perform field surveys, and prepare clear technical reports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with stakeholders and preparation of technical deliverables
- Ability to travel to active project sites, including secure facilities
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical) from an accredited university or college
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Minimum 25% to job sites CONUS and OCONUS as required by task orders
- EIT/FE credential; progress toward PE licensure
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD; for electrical, SKM or ETAP; for mechanical, TRACE or HAP
- Experience integrating legacy systems with new DDC and enterprise monitoring platforms
- Commissioning support experience and familiarity with three-phase inspections and QC coordination
- Prior experience on federal task order contracts for facility modernization or control systems programs
- Advanced degree in engineering or related discipline
