Project Manager - TMS

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Management System (TMS) Project Manager to lead a critical transportation technology initiative within a large l environment. This individual will be responsible for driving the planning, execution, and delivery of a major TMS modernization effort, including an upgrade of the current Manhattan TMS platform, which is approaching end-of-life, and/or the implementation of a new transportation management solution.
This role requires a hands-on project leader who can own delivery, manage vendor relationships, coordinate cross-functional business and technology teams, and drive key decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Own end-to-end delivery of the TMS modernization initiative.
Lead project planning, execution, governance, risk management, and status reporting.
Drive timelines, milestones, and deliverables across business and technology teams.
Facilitate top-down decision-making and escalation management with senior leadership.
Ensure successful project execution while balancing competing priorities and business demands.
Transportation Management Systems
Lead the upgrade of an existing Manhattan TMS environment or support the implementation of a new TMS platform.
Evaluate and coordinate transportation business processes, workflows, and system requirements.
Support transportation operations while identifying opportunities for process optimization and automation.
Collaborate closely with supply chain, logistics, merchandising, and IT stakeholders.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with external vendors, system integrators, and consulting partners.
Effectively leverage vendor resources to meet project objectives and timelines.
Serve as the primary liaison between business leadership, technology teams, and implementation partners.
Partner with supply chain leadership during organizational transitions and project ownership changes.
Technology & Delivery
Coordinate technical and functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure alignment between business requirements and technical solutions.
Oversee testing, deployment planning, change management, and user adoption activities.
Identify dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of Project Management experience leading enterprise technology initiatives.
Proven success managing large-scale TMS implementations, upgrades, or transportation technology projects.
Experience with Manhattan TMS, Blue Yonder, or similar transportation management platforms.
Experience working in a waterfall environment, required.
Strong background delivering projects within retail, distribution, logistics, or supply chain organizations.
Demonstrated ability to lead vendor-driven implementations and manage third-party consulting resources.
Experience managing executive-level stakeholders and driving organizational decision-making.
Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, governance, risk management, and change management.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with retail transportation networks and logistics operations.
Experience supporting supply chain transformation initiatives.
Knowledge of TMS integrations with ERP, WMS, carrier management, and distribution systems.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving transportation, merchandising, and supply chain organizations.
PMP, Agile, Scrum, or related project management certifications preferred.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Project Management. Preferred: MBA, Master's in Supply Chain Management, Master's in Logistics, Master's in Project Management.
