Security Engineer/Architect

Paladin Consulting is seeking a highly capable Security Engineer/Architect to join their cybersecurity vCISO services team. This role involves leading the design, implementation, and delivery of cybersecurity solutions while serving as a trusted advisor to customers and managing technical delivery in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement security solutions across customer environments
• Lead technical delivery for cybersecurity projects from discovery through implementation
• Translate business and operational requirements into practical, supportable security designs
• Conduct security assessments, remediation planning, and technical validations
• Assess customers' technical security posture and provide recommendations for improvement
• Support incident response, initial investigation, and recovery efforts when required
• Troubleshoot complex multi-system issues spanning identity, networking, endpoint, datacenter, storage, and infrastructure platforms
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customer IT leadership, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders
• Lead customer-facing technical discussions, workshops, architectural reviews, and implementation planning sessions
• Communicate effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business leaders
• De-escalate high-pressure situations and provide calm technical leadership during outages, incidents, or critical project phases
• Help customers prioritize security initiatives based on risk tolerance, operational impact, business goals, and budget availability
• Support account managers and presales teams with scoping, solution development, and pricing efforts
• Assist in building statements of work, project plans, and implementation strategies
• Help identify technical risk, operational impact, and project dependencies, and delivery considerations before delivery begins
• Provide technical leadership during customer solution discussions and strategic planning efforts

Requirements:

• Mid-to-senior level experience designing and implementing cybersecurity solutions
• Experience leading technical delivery efforts in customer-facing environments
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across infrastructure and security systems
• Broad experience across multiple security and infrastructure domains
• Identity and access management
• Multi-factor authentication and conditional access
• Network security and segmentation
• Email security
• Endpoint detection and response (EDR/XDR)
• Vulnerability management
• Backup, disaster recovery, and ransomware resilience
• DNS security
• SIEM/SOC integrations and logging strategy
• Datacenter and virtualization security
• Database security concepts
• Hybrid infrastructure security architecture
• Security posture assessment and remediation planning
• Experience with several of the following platforms is expected
• Microsoft security and identity technologies
• Identity platforms including Entra ID, Duo, and Cisco ISE
• Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet security platforms
• SentinelOne
• Zscaler
• Network platforms including Cisco, Fortinet, and Arista
• VMware and Nutanix
• Enterprise storage platforms including Pure, Dell, and HPE
• Experience in consulting, VAR, professional services, or multi-customer environments preferred
