Data Engineer II / Cloud

Leidos is seeking a Data Engineer to support CDC DHP data modernization, analytics, and cloud-based data management initiatives. This role provides hands-on technical expertise for development, migration, testing, validation, and sustainment of analytical workflows supporting surveillance, research, reporting, and operational activities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions
• Support migration and modernization of SAS-based analytics and reporting workflows
• Develop ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data engineering solutions
• Implement automated testing, validation, and monitoring processes
• Support data ingestion, transformation, and delivery across multiple analytical environments
• Develop reusable code, technical documentation, and deployment procedures
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and program stakeholders to support modernization objectives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, software development, or cloud-based data management
• Strong SQL skills
• Hands-on experience with Python, R, SAS, PySpark, or comparable technologies
• Experience developing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance
• Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or public health data systems
• Experience supporting SAS-to-Python, SAS-to-R, or similar modernization initiatives
• Experience with EDAV (Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, R Studio, PowerBI, Tableau), 1CDP (Palantir Foundry), Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
• Experience supporting migration from SAS to other analytics solutions (e.g., R, Python, Databricks, Palantir Foundry)
• Experience supporting dual-run validation, equivalency testing, and controlled migration approaches
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud deployment practices
• Preferred Certifications: Databricks Data Engineer Associate/Professional, Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), Azure AI Engineer Associate, or equivalent
• Master's degree preferred
