Qualus is a leading pure-play power solutions firm focused on power infrastructure transformation. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for supporting engineering projects, developing complex mechanical designs, and coordinating with customers to meet design requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design complex models in 3D modeling environments
- Create assembly drawings from 3D renderings
- Lead efforts in the field to take measurements for design modifications and installations
- Perform reverse-engineering of equipment and components
- Design parts with specification for manufacture
- Learn/perform calculations relative to forces on bus and bracing
- Assist with installation of equipment on job site or provide remote support
- Read and understand technical requirements presented in specifications and requests for proposal
- Take the lead in the development of junior level mechanical engineers
- Answers questions and provides support to other Qualus locations
- Assist management in recruitment efforts and provide feedback for performance evaluations
- Participates in weekly Production Meetings
- Provide support to quoting department for estimates on materials and technical requirements of projects
- Perform other project related work as assigned
- Prepares correspondence and updates various lists/reports, performs data entry functions, copies, scans and faxes documents
Requirements:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required
- Five years' experience with product modifications and customization; switchgear knowledge preferred. Sustained successful performance at the Mechanical Engineer level
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal, client and regulatory counterparts
- Ability to maintain production in a changing environment
- Knowledge of NESC, NEC, UL, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards
- Experience in Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical equipment design using SolidWorks
- Strong computer and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and operate client provided programs and systems
