Staff, Software Engineer

Walmart is a leading retailer looking for a Staff Software Engineer to enhance their software development capabilities. The role involves driving the full software development lifecycle and requires expertise in cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration, while also mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities:

• Exhibit a strong AI-first approach to software development, prioritizing use of AI agents for code generation, automation, and decision-making
• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and machine learning frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and priorities
• Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
• Lead system design reviews to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural standards
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate machine learning components to enhance automation and intelligence
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements
• Apply data-driven methods to define success metrics and optimize development processes

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
• 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering
