CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is seeking a Business/Functional Analyst Intern to provide administrative, analytical, and project coordination support to the Operations team. The role involves assisting with meeting coordination, requirements documentation, data analysis, and project improvement initiatives while gaining practical experience in business analysis and project management.
Responsibilities:
- Attend project, operational, and stakeholder meetings; document meeting notes, decisions, and action items
- Maintain project trackers, status reports, and implementation schedules
- Analyze data and prepare reports using Microsoft Excel
- Track project tasks, risks, issues, and follow-up activities
- Create presentations and summaries for team members and leadership
- Coordinate communications between business partners, project teams, and stakeholders
- Perform administrative and project-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Candidates must be located in the Maryland, Washington, DC, or Northern Virginia (DMV) area
- Working towards at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University
- Junior or Senior Undergraduate student targeting majors in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Project Management or Information Systems related degree
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- Basic understanding of business processes and project lifecycles
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting concepts
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills including exposure to: formulas and functions, pivot tables, filtering and sorting data and basic reporting and analysis
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to document requirements, meeting notes and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal staff and external clients
- Strong attention to detail, strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently, as well as working with a team, to accomplish assigned tasks
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without Sponsorship
- Exposure and experience using intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, business analysis, project management or technology related work
- Basic understanding of databases, reporting or testing concepts
