Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering - Communication & Connectivity

Airbnb is a global company that connects hosts with guests through unique stays and experiences. They are seeking a Senior Manager in Machine Learning Engineering to drive AI initiatives, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure the development of efficient data pipelines that align with business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Drive alignment across engineering, product, and leadership on AI investment priorities and set the multi-year technical roadmap
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to take high-impact ML initiatives from concept to production
• Ensure high-quality, efficient data pipelines that support both business and AI needs
• Define and own success metrics that tie ML work directly to business outcomes
• Grow and mentor a team of ML/Data engineers, raising the technical bar across the org
• Lead and mentor a senior team of Managers and Engineers across Machine Learning, Data Engineering and Software Engineering
• This role is highly cross functional so you will partner with senior leadership across Engineering, Data Science, Product, and across our Business to align stakeholders, define multi-year roadmaps, set and execute on iterative milestones
• Coaching and developing team members, helping them grow their careers, technical expertise, and collaboration skills

Requirements:

• 12+ years of overall engineering experience with 5+ years managing a team in a fast paced, high growth tech environment
• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
• Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale with a great impact
• Experience in applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles
• Technical leadership: hands on experience leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross functionally with Product and Data Science teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills. Examples of working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives
